This is my project with Beethia, Kathy & Kevin. I need somewhere to put it because I'm on my sister's acc. on my computer, and her account doesn't let Microsoft Word save files into the computer; so I need to log out of this... And then log onto my acc., then save. So much work for a simple project like this.

Massachusetts was founded by people who wanted to have their religious freedom; to practice their beliefs out in the open, they were the Puritans. A Puritan used to be any person seeking "purity" through worship and doctrine. However, the term is now used to describe people who wanted to leave the Church of England for reasons they said were not found in the Bible. Most Puritans only wanted to change certain things in the church rather than leave. Puritans were strict Calvinists. They thought that everything that was not explicitly allowed in the Bible is forbidden. Nature made humans immoral, so only a very small number of people could be saved. Puritans, therefore, believed it was very important to apply the rules to all parts of life, and to keep a pure mind.
Founders,
William Bradford was born on March 19, 1590 in Austerfield, Yorkshire. Since her was younger, he joined the Separatist Church. They were the ones who wanted to separate from the Church of England. James I then decided to take the Separatists away; that was when Bradfordwith others fled to the Netherlands. In 1960, he and his first wife boarded the Mayflower to flee from the English government. He got married again for the second time because his first wife died. Bradford died at Plymouth. His legacy was that he led the Pilgrims to their religious freedom.

I know your question: Why should I pick to live in Massachusetts, when there’s New York,Connecticut, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, etc.? I’m not saying that everyone is fit forMassachusetts. And your legibility to live in here is mainly that you cannot practice your chosen belief in your old town, your old country. You’re looking for your religious freedom, where you can go to church the way you want to, pray the way you want to… I know you want the time that you get to pass on to your children the rights and the ability to have their own beliefs respected.
Government,
The King gave Puritans the charter to govern themselves. The Puritans very much appreciated this because all they seek is to be welcomed somewhere they can deal with their own problems without any other government interfering with them. And the fact that they can rule the way they want to (religiously) seem to have them love Massachusetts even more. We, here atMassachusetts, love our freedom and our rights to have a say. Most assembly men thou are wealthy and powerful people. The assembly men are close to the governor and the governor picks his men; they have to be loyal, so who are picked are those expected to be loyal to their boss.

Many of the pilgrims died during their first winter in North America. They were cold and did have enough food. The following year, though, the Native Americans, who were from the Wampanoag tribe, helped them grow crops. At harvest time in the winter of 1621, they were very thankful that they had a good crop of food to eat during the coming winter. They thanked God and the Wampanoags for teaching them how to grow crops. They invited three of the Wampanoags who had helped them to their feast. They were Squanto, Samoset, and Chief Massasoit. The Wampanoags brought their families. This was over 90 people. There were so many people that the Pilgrims did not have enough food to make the meal, so the Wampanoags brought along their own food for the feast. The Wampanoags brought turkey, duck, fish, deer, berries, squash, and cornbread. They also brought things that they had farmed and shown the Pilgrims how to care for.
